-- PARKING: For everyone's safety, please Park/Camp in the designated areas only (Posts laid out)
-- NOISE: We have neighbors at RPH (no noise after dusk) Please do not bother them.
-- ANIMALS: (wild & other) we do see wild animals from time to time at the shelter and bears are now regularly being sighted in the vicinity. Food should be stowed properly. (Don't feed the bears :) )
-- Security & Emergencies: Someone in charge will be onsite at all times. The East Fishkill Police Dept patrols the area, and we always inform them of our presence during the workparty (911 is the number to dial in an emergency, someone will have a cell phone available (the neighbors should not be disturbed except in a real emergency)
-- First aid kit onsite: In the big tent (please report all injuries - we will have 800# for National Park injury claims) We strongly recommend that everyone have a personal first aid kit on them, its good common sense especially as some of the projects will be away from the shelter.
-- NO POWER TOOLS, PLEASE: Lets keep with the trail tradition.
-- Please help us get more donations and grants for future projects and comply with National Park insurance regulations by registering with us and the NY/NJ Trail Conference, when you Arrive (in the big tent); we really value your help. If you wish you can also find out more about and sign up for the RPH Cabin Volunteers Club; our dues are very inexpensive, we want everyone to have an opportunity to enjoy the AT.
These guidelines represent experience from past successful workparties. We get lots of work done, feed hungry hikers and have a great time, all without any problems or injuries, and we want to keep it that way for everyone’s safety and enjoyment.
